How did Kumry, Pennsylvania get its name? This page provides a brief history about the naming of Kumry, Pennsylvania, the people who settled it, and the industry rising within it.
Small village in northwestern Milford Township on the road from Trumbauersville to Geryville, about midway between the two places. This was a post office in 1905, but it has since been discontinued and mail is supplied by Quakertown rural delivery. The settlement is composed of a few dwellings and a school house. A grist mill and creamery in the same territory are located on Schmoutz Creek. The word Kumry is a shortening of Kummerer, name of a family active in the business affairs of the community. The family name is now generally spelled Kumry.
