How did Durham Furnace, Pennsylvania get it’s name? This page provides a brief history about the naming of Durham Furnace, Pennsylvania, the people who settled it, and the industry rising within it. Village in the eastern part of Durham Township on the Delaware River, near the mouth of Durham Creek, where the Durham furnaces for using anthracite coal were established in 1848 and 1850.
